Inline Skating Maneuvers for Every Beginner

If you wish to start with inline skating, you will need to have some patience, as with learning any sport, it takes time. This is especially true if you have never used skates of any kind before. With some time and lots of practice, you will be able to skate perfectly and learn many tricks.

1. Standing

The very first thing that you need to learn when it comes to inline skating is how to stand up and keep your balance. If you do not learn how to do this, you are not going to be very good at skating. Practice standing and keeping your balance until you have mastered it.

2. Braking

The next thing that you should learn is how to use your brakes. Learning how to properly use your brakes without falling over every time you press them will help you skate better. Make sure that you practice this skill a lot before you start doing any kind of tricks.

3. Turning

After you learn how to properly stand and brake, you can then work on turning. Turning is an imperative skill and one that you must master before trying to do any other trick. When you turn, make sure that you are doing it in a way where you will not tip or fall over. Constant practicing will help you to master this skill.

4. T-stop

This trick will help you learn to stop more efficiently. It works better to stop you when you are facing a dangerous situation. Another reason why you should learn this trick is because not all skates out there have brakes, so you will need to learn how to stop yourself well.

To do this trick, you will need to stand up in a T form and let your front feet go forward. Your back feet should stay back, and your front feet should be in the position you started from. Practice it several times before attempting the stop. Just skate slowly and put your feet in the T-position. This gives your feet more pressure to make the back feet of your skates stop quickly. This trick may not work for you at first, so you will need lots of practice to get it.

5. Heel Wheelie

A heel wheelie is a relatively simple trick to learn. To do this trick, you will need one of your feet in front of the other, and you will need to ride like this for a while now, you will want to lift your front feet so that only the back wheel is touching the ground. Once you get used to this trick, you can increase the difficulty by making turns while doing the heel wheelie. You should be proficient with this trick quickly.

6. Ride on Two Wheels

This trick is a bit more difficult, but with a little practice, you will have it down in no time. To ride on two wheels, you will need to get a bit more speed up under you. You will then want to put one foot in front of the other and then lean back, slowly lifting your heel from your back foot. Turn into position and then lift the toes of your front two feet. Since this trick is a bit more difficult, you will want to make sure that you are wearing protective gear. Technically, to protect yourself, you should wear protective gear at all times because something can go wrong even with the simplest of tricks.

7. Toe-Toe

Toe-Toe is a difficult trick for beginners, but it is easy once you get the hang of it. You want to get your speed up and then put one foot back a bit. Lift the heel of your back foot. Stay in this position for a little while. Once you feel comfortable with this position, lift the heel of your front foot. It is imperative that you are careful with this stunt because you can lose your balance.

8. Skating On One Foot

Skating on one foot is an easy trick if you are good at balancing. If you are not good at balancing yet, you should practice a bit more before attempting this trick. Once you start to try this, you will want some support at first. Work on holding up one foot and balancing with the skate on. Switch to each leg and see how long you can stand. Once you have the hang of it, you can then start practicing skating. Work on trying to make turns while skating with just one leg and your other leg up. This will take some practice, but sooner or later, you will get the hang of this trick.

9. Skating Backwards

Once you have skating down well, you will next want to practice skating backwards. When you skate backwards, you will need to understand that you are skating in a different position. Your toes are closer than your heels in this position. You will skate as you normally would by bending your knees a little and pushing off with your feet. You will want to make sure that no one or nothing is behind you while you are learning to skate backwards.

10. Slalom

This trick will have you moving yourself right and left and then right and leftover and over again. When you are good at skating in a normal fashion, you can try some cones to help you do this kind of skating. Doing it with cones will help you to keep your legs inline and parallel. Do not go back or stop if you miss a cone. Once you feel comfortable, you can try doing this trick backwards or even on one leg. Just make sure that you do not go too fast as you can cause great injury to yourself. Do this trick at a slow speed. You can do it faster when you are more experienced.

The more you practice these tricks, the more proficient you will be in inline skating. Take your time to learn the tricks well and make sure that you always use proper safety equipment.
